Cinquième Congrès Franco-Latinoaméricain de Mathématiques Appliquées

December 15-18, 1998

Second Chile-CCE School in Optimization

December 10-13, 1998

Santiago de Chile, Chile

Subject
The subject of the meeting will be Optimization in a wide sense and the main topics will cover theoretical as well as algorithmical aspects of the subject: smooth and nonsmooth optimization, sensitivity and stability in mathematical programming, path-following methods, calculus of variations, variational convergences in optimization, combinatorial optimization, general equilibrium theory and applications to economics models.

Schedule
The agenda of the meeting will be split into two main parts. The first part, from December 10th through 13th, corresponds to the School in Optimization and will consist of a small number of 4 sessions micro-courses on specialized topics.

G. Buttazzo Shape optimization
I. Ekeland Inverse problems in optimization theory and microeconomics
M. Goemanns Semidefinite programming and combinatorial optimization
M. Grotschel Combinatorial optimization
J-Ph. Vial Nondifferentiable optimization: an interior point perspective
R. Wets Lectures on Stochastic optimization

The second part, from December 15th to 18th, corresponds to the Cinquième Congrès Franco-Latinoaméricain de Mathématiques Appliquées and will be a 4 day symposium where we expect to have nearly 45 contributed and invited papers covering state-of-the-art research in optimization.
